B·SIDE is a deck-of-cards encyclopedia of music's greatest figures. Each card carries one rare, well-sourced fact — and one iconic YouTube moment. No fluff. Just relics.
The stories behind the songs.
Every music icon gets their own deck of 52 cards. Every card lives in two places at once: as a deep-dive page on this site, and as a printed card in the premium physical deck. A QR on each card connects the two.
Each artist also gets their own visual world. Michael Jackson's deck has stained-glass cards on a parchment page. Prince's will be something else entirely. Hendrix's will be something else again. The shell of the site stays neutral and clean; each world erupts when you tap into it.
On image rights
B·SIDE does not host artist photographs or copyrighted artwork. Every visual is original symbolic illustration. YouTube clips are embedded via YouTube's own player, which respects rights-holder controls — videos that disable embedding will simply show a link.
Why a deck?
Because a card is the right unit of attention. Long enough to teach you something you didn't know. Short enough to read at a bus stop. Beautiful enough to keep. Collectible enough to talk about. The deck is finite — 52, like a standard hand — which means it forces editing. Only the most essential moments make it in.
Adding new artists
Every artist is a single JSON file. Every card is a single JSON file. The schema is published in the project's README; the worlds are styled in one shared stylesheet. Adding a new artist takes hours, not weeks.
